FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!

We started our first day of school with a trip out for breakfast. McDonald's is always a good choice, especially since they have Mocha Mondays right now, free sample sizes of their new mocha drinks.
When we got back home, I had schultuetes waiting for them. It is an old German tradition to give children a school cone on their first day of school. Ours contained candy, small toys, lip gloss, and special, multi-colored pens.

We decorated our notebooks for the year. We have notebooks for Bible, History, Science, and Language Arts.
I gave them their new hanging file folder "workboxes". We're working this week on making our schedule cards and strip. These will be Clone Wars themed. Each will have their own rotating caddy to hold school supplies.

We started our lessons with a study of 1 Cor. 13. We will be studying love this week, and different character traits throughout the year. We moved right on to exploring new books, doing a little math, grammar, and critical thinking/logic activities. We ended up our school time with reading aloud "The Kitchen Knight", a retelling of King Arthur by Margaret Hodges. We'll do PE this afternoon. They have new PE activity cards allowing them to choose different activities throughout the week. It was a great first day! I'm really excited about this year!
